• To have your skin looking at its best on your big day it is recommended to get a facial before the wedding.
• If a professional beauty therapist or makeup artist is applying the make-up on the day a trial makeup in advance is a good idea. This will give you the opportunity to discuss your needs, colours and to try out the make-up.
• If you are going to do your own wedding make-up you should book a professional make-up at a beauty salon in advance of the wedding. This is a good way to pick up ideas and tips.
• A colour analysis is ideal to select your true colours for your skin tone and clothes. To discover whether you are either a cool summer or winter, or a warm autumn or spring. A worthwhile investment before your wedding which will allow you to discover your most enhancing and flattering colours.
• A bridal make-up look is most flattering when it looks as natural as possible and enhances and defines your features. Mineral makeup is gentle on your skin and provides coverage to eliminate any blemishes and uneven skin tone but it does not feel like you are wearing a mask.
Application > base > blending
Brushes - make sure that they are good quality
Blush – add gradually and build up the colour with lots of blending.
Eyes – build any colour gradually using an applicator and blend with a fluff brush.
Eyeliner – if a pencil is used do not make it too harsh. It works for night time makeup but not bridal. Blend with a cotton bud. Liquid liner needs a steady head, so place your elbow onto the dressing table.
Mascara – As with eyeliner it is important to take it easy and not overload. Better still, have your eyelashes tinted and then just a sweep of mascara to thicken them, or add some semi-permanent eyelashes. To apply the mascara, dab the brush on tissue first in order to avoid putting on too much. Eyelash curlers are useful for giving the lashes a gentle squeeze before the mascara application.
Lips – Again, these need to be in good condition first, so moisturise with vaseline or lipbalm, then blot, apply a natural eyeliner, then using a lip brush apply one coat of lipstick, blot, then re-apply. This should now last all day. If using lipgloss apply on top or if using alone it may need re-applying as it won't last as long generally.
